What are hand-tied extensions?
Typically when people talk about hand-tied extensions, they are referring to a type of extensions where wefts of hair are attached to the natural hair to create maximum coverage, fullness, and length. What can be confusing is that “hand-tied' is actually describing the type of hair being used and not the method itself. Hand-tied hair is an increasingly popular type of hair extension where human hair is actually tied by hand to create a micro thin weft. These wefts are then strategically placed and then sewn on to some sort of beaded row. This beaded row is often referred to as a track and there are many different methods of applications for that track. Because hand-tied hair is so thin on top, it lays super flat to the head, is flexible, and comfortable to wear!
What are Invisible Bead Extensions?
IBE is the method of the application of your hand-tied hair. Invisible Bead Extensions are the most requested hand-tied method in the world and for good reason! We proudly partnered with IBE because of their unique damage free approach, comfort, and versatility. With IBE the beads are completely hidden giving each row a completely seamless blend. Each stylist that has been certified by IBE has gone through extensive 1:1 training with a personal mentor and has had their work approved by the creator herself before they can ever do a client in the salon. This ensures the best possible outcome for your IBE application.
Do you offer other methods besides IBE?
Yes! While IBE extensions are by far our most requested method, we have several stylists who are certified in other methods as well including another well known method, NBR. Your stylist will be able to discuss the method options with you and decide what would be the best fit for your hair! With all methods, the integrity of your natural hair remains our top priority.
If I decide to try hand-tied extensions myself, what can I expect the process to look like?
Upon deciding which stylist is the best fit for you, the first thing you will want to do is book a complimentary consultation. We can do your consultation in the salon, or if your stylist is comfortable with it you can do the consultation virtually. The consultation will help us determine the work that will need to be done to get to your desired look. Your stylist will help decide which method will be best for your hair type, will do a color match, find your ideal length, and determine how many rows you will need.
After your consultation, we require a 50% non-refundable retainer to reserve your installation appointment. When you arrive to your installation appointment you will take before photos, and your stylist will begin your transformation. While your stylist will most likely prep and pre-color your hair extensions before your appointment, the majority of your custom coloring will happen at the time of your install. After the application and color process, your new hair will be cut to blend in with your natural hair, and styled to perfection! Your stylist will take after photos, and discuss product recommendations and at home care with you!
How many rows will I need?
The general rule of thumb is that 1 row can be used if you are strictly wanting to fill in and thicken your current length of hair. If you are desiring additional length and fullness, 2 rows is the most common option. 3 rows (or an additional mini row) can be used if you desire maximum length and fullness, or if you have thick hair or short layers that require more hair to create a natural blend.
What will it require to maintain my extensions?
Your new hair will need to be moved up by your stylist roughly every 8 weeks depending on how quickly your hair grows. Your hair extensions are 100% human remy hair so you will care for them much like you care for your own hair. Your stylist will go over proper brushing and recommend products for you to keep your extensions hydrated and protect them from any styling that you are doing. You will want to protect your investment, and professional products are HIGHLY recommended to make your extensions last as long as possible. If cared for properly, your new hair can last you up to a year.
What is the cost?
As there are so many factors in determining the cost of your hair transformation, a consultation is required. Hand-tied hair extensions are a luxury service. We use only the best quality of hair and a lot of time goes into creating the perfect experience for you. We charge accordingly.
